Last Song for You
Stuck in midlife malaise, musician So Sing Wah miraculously runs into his former lover Ha Man Huen one day. Yet their fleeting reunion soon turns into her obituary, and her daughter unexpectedly asks him to accompany her to Japan to scatter her mother¡¯s ashes.
Last Song for You is the directorial debut of Jill Leung, a Hong Kong action film screenwriter, who opens the door to a sealed past through the fantastical device of time slip. Forgotten youthful passion and love believed to be over still resonate within. Thus, time that had stopped begins to flow again, and emotions he thought forgotten return one by one.
Ekin Cheng, a beloved face to Korean fans of Hong Kong action cinema through The Storm Riders(1998) and Heroic Duo(2003), plays So Sing Wah, a middle-aged man who has lost his former spark, delivering a restrained and moving performance. Ian Chan, a member of Hong Kong¡¯s popular group MIRROR, plays the young So Sing Wah, capturing the texture of youthful insecurity and passion with vivid authenticity, presenting himself as a promising actor.
The 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival hopes Last Song for You, the final melody of this year¡¯s festival, rekindles the dormant passion within you. (Jin. Cho)
