Program Note
At a frontline military base, Kyu-nam prepares to escape from North Korean society. Unlike other films about the division between North and South Korea that focused on ideology and political systems, Escape deeply explores the individual¡¯s inner world. Despite uncertain outcomes, Kyu-nam risks his life not for grand ideals but for the simple hope of tomorrow. The film's music, composed by director Dalpalan and featuring Zion.T's Yanghwa Bridge, plays a key role in conveying the characters' emotions. In particular, the ambient sounds in the latter part intensify tension and accelerate the film's pace, keeping the audience breathless. (Lee Hwajung)
