Program Note
A sincere homage and a biting critique, this film transcends the limits of message and style that a single film can convey. Once fierce opponents in a filmmaking class, Hanah and Cheol begin a collaborative project that uniting them against a middle-aged male director. While the film gleefully exposes the ridiculous authority and pettiness of the older generation and emotions escalate, their project moves across genres—noir, romance, documentary, sci-fi—embracing and mocking every possible cliché. This genre-hopping chaos delivers a multi-faceted sensory delight as diverse as the film¡¯s own eclectic nature. After all the noisy outbursts, this bold yet innocent film ultimately reveals a deep, unwavering love for cinema. (Suan Seol)
