Synopsis
Detective Woo is notorious as a dangerous man even within the violent crimes unit of the Western Police Station. One day, he is faced with a bold and brutal murder case unlike anything he has ever seen before. The suspect, who repeatedly slips through the police net with ease, seems to mock the investigators¡¯ incompetence and remains far from easy to catch.
Program Note
The Bee Gees' Holiday naturally accompanies memories of Nowhere to Hide, echoing through several key moments. Early in the film, on a torrential rainy day, a murder takes place on the 40 Steps. Amid mounting tension, intangible fear, suspicion, and doubt, the overwhelming atmospheric music immerses the audience in the film's mood. The music plays a crucial role as part of director Lee Myungse's distinctive style and mise-en-scène. Later in the film, the same song returns with a slower tempo and deep bass, underpinning the climactic rain-soaked fight scene—truly one of the most iconic and memorable moments in Korean cinema.
