Synopsis
The film, fully authorized by the band¡¯s surviving members and estates, provides a glimpse into another dimension and goes deep inside the psyche and experiences of the band members to chronicle how, over a ten-year period, a group of Australian school friends, led by Nick Cave, jolted audiences awake into Dionysian frenzy with their confrontational, intense performances.

If you're not into punk or gothic rock, The Birthday Party may be unfamiliar. Formed by five Australian high schoolers in the late 1970s, the band left a lasting mark in just 5-6 years with three intense albums. After their breakup, frontman Nick Cave found global fame with Bad Seeds, becoming one of Australia's most iconic artists. Known for shocking lyrics, explosive shows, and wild personal lives, The Birthday Party's rise and fall are vividly captured by Ian White, who weaves rare footage, candid interviews, and striking animation into a riveting documentary.
