Program Note
Yerai Cortés, a guitarist from Alicante, Spain, is a rising flamenco artist who blends the rhythms and emotions of tradition with a modern, delicate sensibility. This documentary traces his artistic and emotional journey while preparing an album. Instead of a linear narrative, it interlaces performances, interviews, silences, and family conversations to show how music becomes a language of memory and identity. The lively golpes on the guitar, the tense yet alluring Phrygian scales, and the distinctive rhythms at his fingertips reveal both his passion and inner darkness. The film won Goya Awards for Best Documentary and Best Original Song. (Jo Ji-hoon)
