Synopsis

In Jecheon, South Korea, there's a vocational high school for youth with migrant backgrounds, where about 70% of students were born overseas. This documentary follows three students—Moses, Yushin, and Shakhzoda—as they navigate life as teenage immigrants in Korea, facing challenges with language, family, and visa status while pursuing their dreams.

Program Note

Foreign students who arrived in Korea as teenagers have long lived closely alongside us. But pause—are those who drift as marginalized individuals, unable to fully settle into "us," simply Korean, or something beyond? This film captures the lives of three students at Dasom High School, a technical alternative school for multicultural families in Jecheon under Korea Polytechnic. Despite challenges like adaptation difficulties and discrimination, these young people walk steadily toward their dreams and goals, serving as inspiring examples for all ages. In an era of widespread hatred, this timely documentary urges us to unite rather than divide difference into wrongness. (Ho Jun Lee)
