An original hand drawn animated feature film from Mano Animation Studios and director Usman Riaz. A young Vincent and his father Tomas run the finest glass workshop in the country and find their lives upended by an impending war in which they want no part.
Program Note
The film begins with Vincent, now a master glassmaker, reflecting on his past through letters from Alliz, the girl he once admired. The story reveals the delicate emotions between class, art, and love with clarity and grace. Produced by Ghibli veteran Jeffrey Wexler, with animation by Hanho Heung-Up, live European orchestral recordings, and English voice acting, The Glassworker is a truly global project. Vincent and Alliz's love is more than romance. Social barriers, artistic passion, and time's changes turn their bond into tragedy—and that gives the film its deeper resonance. Emotions as fragile as glass, yet the light within remains unbreakably strong. (Eugene Kim)
