Synopsis
Two people have a plan and head to a party. When they arrive at the house they find a keeper who denies them entry. An adaptation with electronic vibes of Kafka's short story Before the Law. A small oneiric reflection that evokes current issues seen from a classic-modern story.
Program Note
Franz Kafka's Before the Law tells of an ordinary man seeking access to power, institutions, truth, or salvation symbolized by the law, only to gain nothing in the end. The Spanish short film ¢®LaW! offers a modern reinterpretation of Kafka's classic through diverse sounds and music. In this work, the 'door' becomes a text expandable to themes such as government systems and digital algorithms. While the daytime opening resembles a rough road movie, the film shifts to night and introduces animation techniques to present a montage of varied sounds and music. (Im Sooyeon)
