Synopsis
Ruth, a 25-year-old, is caring for her mother Cassandra, who is living with dementia. Once a promising pianist, Cassandra was the one who first taught Ruth how to play the piano. Now, it is Ruth who sits at the piano, hoping to revive her mother's fading memories.
Program Note
Two women sit at a piano. The older woman's eyes lack focus, her expression unreadable. As the younger woman plays, the older woman hesitantly follows. They are mother and daughter—Ruth teaches piano to her mother Cassandra, who is battling dementia. Cassandra's fingers, having forgotten how to play, drift weakly off the keys. The film portrays a daughter holding onto memories through music, striving to reclaim her mother's lost life at the piano. It clearly explores how care can be expressed through music and how bonds formed through shared music remain even as memories fade. (Kim Songhee)
