Program Note
During the COVID-19 pandemic, a man grows increasingly distressed living with his wife, his sensitivity to sound pushing him to the edge. To cope, he wears a headset—and discovers a whole new world. The Quarantine Redemption deftly shows how music can transform the everyday. The grating sounds that tormented him—chopping vegetables, wringing a cloth, scrubbing the floor—become a rhythmic performance. Household items turn into instruments, with precise camerawork and editing showcasing the film's clever concept. By the playful finale, you might find yourself moving to the beat during your own chores. (Lee Yoochae)
