Program Note
While family dramas are common, stories about grown siblings in independent films are rare, making Dear My Trumpet a welcome work. It tells of brothers Jiwoo, who gave up music due to parental pressure, and Sunwoo, who continues to study it. Rather than unfolding rigidly under the weight of family, the film focuses on how the brothers share their hearts. Unlike mere acting skill, the two actors truly convey a brotherly understanding and care. The climax, where they connect through music composed for the younger brother, is powerful. The jazz trio of trumpet, keyboard, and drums carries a moving emotional force. (Lee Yongcheol)
