Program Note
Snare is a set of wires on a drum that produce a sharp, distinctive sound. In English, it also means 'noose' or 'trap,' giving it a double meaning in the film. While drummer Seong-hyeon focuses on tuning his drum, fellow drummer Won-tae's intrusion invades his psychological space, revealing tension, obsession, and discomfort. The film effectively expresses these subtle emotional clashes through the snare as both a device and sound. This fresh music film organically connects its title, theme, and subject, delicately portraying Seong-hyeon's sensitive obsession and raising questions about balancing individual autonomy and boundaries within a group through the narrow focus of drum tuning.
