The New Talent section is a competition for emerging Korean composers, designed to discover fresh potential in film music. It is open to Korean feature and short films completed after January 2025. Feature entries must be a composer’s first or second credit, while shorts require a third credit or beyond. Following a nationwide call and preliminary review, the 22nd JIMFF selected sixteen finalists: three features and thirteen shorts. One outstanding composer will receive a trophy and 10 million KRW.
Though still unfamiliar, these composers offer fresh ideas and a glimpse into the future of Korean film scores. Through this section, JIMFF aims to discover emerging talent and empower them to build their unique artistic voices.
