Synopsis
The Heart-Heart Orchestra, an ensemble composed of members with developmental disabilities, is raising awareness of disabilities through various performances both domestically and internationally. They are developmentally disabled, but they are also professional musicians who take on roles in the orchestra. This film observes how these two identities interact.
Program Note
Performing means having practiced ten thousand times behind the scenes. Finding the sound they truly want through countless notes, they can be both serious and scattered. Often unsure where to go, even when invited, they may not follow. This is like developmental disabilities—slow communication with the world. Though this 'slowness' is society¡¯s standard problem, they have their own pace. Still, they create harmony together. Making harmony means they can belong well in society. Their carefully crafted harmony, nurtured until the pandemic becomes endemic, reaches our hearts. (Yang hee)
