International Competition - World Music Film Today

¡®World Music Film Today - International Competition¡¯, JIMFF¡¯s international competition section, introduces several recent films that feature music films regardless of their genre. Five domestic and overseas jury members will select one winner for the Grand Prize. The winning film will receive a prize of KRW 50 million..

Mike FIGGISFilm Director

After his debut work,Stormy Monday (1988),Mike Figgis burst onto the Hollywood film scene as the director and music director of Internal Affairs (1990), starring Richard Gear. After directing Liebestraum (1991), Mr. Jones (1993) and The Browning Version (1994), he was nominated for two Academy awards for Leaving Las Vegas (1996), for which Nicolas Cage won the Academy Award for Best Actor. In addition to his prolific work as a film director, he is an active musician and photographer and directed the documentary Somebody Up There Likes Me (2019) about Rolling Stones¡¯ guitarist, Ronnie Wood. Currently, he is working on a feature film called MOTHER-TONGUE in Hong Kong and is preparing for his first Korean language project, SHAME.

KIM Tae-yong Film Director

Kim Tae-yong debuted with Memento Mori in 1999. Family Ties (2006) won the Golden Alexander for Best Feature at Thessaloniki IFF. He directed Late Autumn (2010) starring Chinese actress Tang Wei, screened at the 61st Berlinale. He has been extending his career out to documentaries, plays, and a variety of short and experimental films.

SHIN Chul Festival Director of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival

Shin Chul established ShinCine Communication in 1988 and established the concept of modern producers in Korean films. He produced Korea's first film with computer graphics, The Fox with Nine Tails (1994) and The Ginko Bed (1996) and produced provocative works such as Lies (2000), and My Sassy Girl (2001) created a global remake boom with international success.

KIM Yuna Musician

A singer-songwriter and vocalist of the band Jaurim. She is an artist who is deeply loved by the public for her unique music world and voice. She made their debut with the music of the movie Man with Flowers (1997), and later appeared and participated in music in works such as The President's Last Bang (2005) and The Wonder Years (2007). She has been working in various fields of activity for 24 years.

LEE Dongjune Music Director

Music director Lee Dongjune composed music for various films including well-known films like Green Fish (1997), Taegukgi (2004), and Miracle in Cell No.7 (2013), and ¡°AFC Official Anthem¡±. He is now a member of the board of directors of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival.


Korean Competition - Korean Music Film Now

¡®Korean Music Film Now - Korean Competition¡¯, JIMFF¡¯s Korean Competition section, was established to promote the production of Korean music films and show the new vision of Korean music filmmakers. Three to four domestic and overseas jury members will select one feature and one short films. The winning feature will receive a prize of KRW 15 million and the winning short film will receive a prize of KRW 5 million.

KWON HaehyoActor

Majored in Theater and Film at Hanyang University. Debuted with the play The Good Person of Szechwan and has continued working. He received the Best Actor Award for The Day After (2017) at the 18th Busan Film Critics Awards and was in films such as Peninsula (2020), Fukuoka (2020), and The Women Who Ran (2020) as well as Bogota and Taeil Which are set for release.

KIM JongkwanDirector

Studied Film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. How to Operate a Polaroid Camera (2004) was screened and awarded at various film festivals. Worst Woman (2016) received the FIPRESCI Award at the 38th Moscow International Film Festival. He also wrote and directed The Table (2017), Josee (2020), and Shades of the Heart (2021). He directed Walking at Night which is one of the Netflix

Darcy PAQUET Subtitle Translator

Darcy Paquet teaches at the Busan Asian Film School. He has translated the subtitles for many Korean films including Parasite and The Handmaiden. In 2014 he co-founded the Wildflower Film Awards Korea to recognize achievement in Korean independent filmmaking.

WON DongyeonCEO of Realies Pictures

Won Dongyeon produced Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017), Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days (2017), Masquerade (2012), and 200 Pounds Beauty (2006), and is currently working on a drama version of Along with the Gods, and is in process of a film with Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.
