Master Class | Cho Young-wuk | Film Music Director |
Having created the great stream of Korean films, Cho Young-wuk broke the prejudice that "a music director is a composer". Besides The Contact that recorded the first single OST million-seller for the Korean film music history, he composed the film music in Classic, Joint Security Area, Old Boy, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, Kundo: Age of Rampant, and The Shameless. He is better at curation than performance and directing than composition. With his excellent sense of rediscovering existing music and meticulous production skills, he has presented "music remembered with films" in every work for the past 25 years. He organizes a team of composers The Sound Trackings and he systematically creates music in film. Considering constantly how cinematically he creates and tells music in film, he recently completed the music in the six episodes of BBC mini-series The Little Drummer Girl and the film Decision to Leave directed by Park Chan-wook.
