Musicscape: International MV
Explore the creative worlds of world-renowned filmmakers beyond cinema through their music videos, featuring works by Yorgos Lanthimos, Spike Jonze, Iwai Shunji, Gus Van Sant, Jonathan Glazer, and others. Following the screening, directors Kang Dong-yeon and Jeon Ji-hoon of SL8, known for their work on music videos for K-pop artists including Young K, SEVENTEEN, and ATEEZ, join for a post-screening talk.
KANG Dongyeon, JEON Jihoon MV Director
Working as a music video directing duo, they have collaborated with a wide range of K-pop artists, including EXO, SEVENTEEN, BOYNEXTDOOR, aespa, DAY6, KISS OF LIFE, and ITZY. Their notable works include EXO's CROWN, SEVENTEEN's God of Music, aespa's Spicy, DAY6's INSIDE OUT, KISS OF LIFE's K Bye, and ITZY's Sneakers.
KIM Doheon Music Critic
Kim Do Heon is a Korean based music critic, journalist. He was the editor and editor-in-chief of IZM, Korea's oldest pop music webzine. Now he is currently a member of Korean Music Awards selection committee. Contributed to the writing of The History of K-Pop: 100 Waves and Rock 200. A music video screening featuring music videos directed by filmmakers including Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, Kim Jong-kwan, Jang Kun-jae, and Yoon Dan-bi, alongside works that pay homage to films by acclaimed directors. The program explores the aesthetics of directing across film and music video.
YOON Dan-bi Director
Directed the feature films Moving On and The World Before. Moving On won four awards at the Busan International Film Festival, the Bright Future Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Best New Director at the Baeksang Arts Awards. She also directed NELL’s music videos for Deep Inside and Loss in Motion.
JIN Myunghyun Director of MOVement
Director of the independent film studio, MOVement, which won the 2017 Women In Film Awards for Best PR and Marketing. He has distributed, promoted, and marketed films such as The King of Jokgu, Worst Woman, Right Now, Wrong Then, Pascha, Lost to Shame, Troublers, and A Lonely Island in the Distant Sea.
Musicscape: JIMFF X RAFTERS
A music video screening featuring rafters, home to artists including Shin In Ryu, Meaningful Stone, DECADENT, CHOILB, Jeon Jinhee, and YonYon. The program includes music videos directed by filmmakers whose films have screened at JIMFF, as well as new music videos by Shin In Ryu and Meaningful Stone. Following the screening, DECADENT and CHOILB will share behind-the-scenes stories and discuss the creative process behind music and music videos.
