Since 2017, the scope has expanded to include Asian composers such as Kawai Kenji, Tan Dun, and Lim Giong. In 2022, the award became global, honoring La La Land’s music director, Justin Hurwitz. In 2023, the award was posthumously given to the late composer and musician Sakamoto Ryuichi. For the 20th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, the award will be presented to Yoshimata Ryo, a New Age maestro and renowned Japanese OST composer.
