Synopsis

Fourteen-year-old Yuichi is deeply in love with the music of Lily Chou-Chou. However, his daily life is difficult. His best friend, Hoshino, becomes the leader of their classmates and begins to bully him, while his first love, Kuno, also becomes a victim of bullying. Despite his feelings for her, he is too overwhelmed by his own sadness to help her. The boy's only solace is the soul-stirring music of Lily Chou-Chou. But reality is not something that can be easily hidden by music.

  • Iwai Shunji, born in 1963 in Miyagi, has been creating various visual works such as TV dramas and music videos since 1988, establishing a style known as "Iwai aesthetics." After his feature film debut with Love Letter(1995), he directed films like Swallowtail Butterfly(1996), All About Lily Chou-Chou(2001), and Hana and Alice(2004). He continues to explore different genres, including composing the song Hana Wa Saku, and the drama adaptation Rojo No Ruka(2024) of his 2023 film Kyrie.
