Synopsis

Christopher Clark, an eco-warrior, has established his unique Outpost of Progress in the heart of the Amazon rainforest — a utopian society based on the perfect balance between nature and technology, run and safeguarded by the forest's dwellers. Unfortunately, the situation is getting worse every year, and a new wildfire now threatens to destroy the Outpost. In a daring bid to capture the world's attention about the impending catastrophe and to urge the Brazilian government to create a protective reserve, Chris decides to take a bold gamble: organizing a spectacular Pink Floyd concert amid the verdant inferno. After all, in the mind of a dreamer, the realm of possibilities knows no bounds.

In the vast Amazon of Brazil, Scottish environmental activist Christopher Clark devises a utopian model called The Outpost, where nature and indigenous management exist in harmony. Faced with the Brazilian government's lack of cooperation, fires, and rampant development plaguing the Amazon, Clark becomes captivated by the audacious idea of staging a Pink Floyd concert in the heart of the rainforest to draw global attention. The Outpost is a documentary that follows the eccentric plans of visionary Christopher Clark, reminiscent of Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo. The film presents a grand portrait of the Amazon’s poetic landscapes, driven by excellent direction that provokes reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature. (Choi Eunyoung)

  • Edoardo Morabito is an Italian editor and director. In 2013, his documentary I fantasmi di San Berillo was awarded Best Film at 31° TFF – Torino Film Festival. As an editor he worked, among others, on Belluscone: Una storia siciliana by Franco Maresco(2014). The film won the Special Jury Prize at the 71st Venice International Film Festival (Orizzonti Section) in 2014 and was awarded as the Best Documentary at David di Donatello. He edited Liberami(2016) by Federica di Giacomo, winner for the Best Film at the 73rd Venice international Film Festival (Orizzonti Section). He worked with Franco Maresco on Io sono Tony Scott(2010) and La mafia non è più quella di una volta(2019), winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 76th Venice International Film Festival in 2019. He’s a professor at Academy of fine Arts and formerly at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. The Outpost(2023) is his second film.
