Synopsis

This is a film about The Black Keys. traces Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney's remarkable journey from two neighborhood kids jamming in a basement in Akron, Ohio to rock ’n roll super-stardom.

Program Note

Watching a band grow is always a joy, something that never gets old no matter how many times you witness it. The journey of The Black Keys, now a major band capable of arena tours, is particularly fascinating. Hailing from Akron, Ohio, a place with barely a decent club for a blues/garage band like them to play in, they spent over a decade living out of cheap motels during their obscure years. Their fate took a 180-degree turn with the massive hit Tighten Up. This is the story of a battle-worn band that overcame burnout and internal conflicts through their love for their hometown and music, offering a reassuring glimpse into where they are now.
