Synopsis

The Waikiki Brothers are a nightclub band that travels from place to place, with their leader voice actor meeting up with his high school girlfriend in his hometown of Xu'an, while his bandmates struggle with girl problems. Even though they want to continue playing music when they get older, the reality is bleak, and they have to choose how to live the rest of their lives. Lim's <Waikiki Brothers> was a movie that received a lot of support from older audiences when it was released. As we get older, we often look back on our youth with regret and feel frustrated with the reality that there is no way out, and in that sense, the members of “Waikiki Brothers” are our self-portraits.

임순례

영화 <우리 생애 최고의 순간>으로 작품성과 흥행성을 동시에 인정받은 임순례 감독은 1987년 한양대학교대학원 연극영화과를 수료한 후, 1992년 프랑스 파리 제8대학에서 영화과 석사과정을 마쳤다. 1993년 <세상 밖으로> 연출부를 거쳐, 1994년 단편 <우중산책>으로 데뷔하였으며, 1996년 그녀의 장편 데뷔작 <세친구>는 제1회 부산국제영화제 넷팩상을 수상하였다.
