Synopsis

The stories of Nora, a widow living with her child, and her old lover Ismael run parallel to each other until suddenly their paths cross and the story takes a completely different turn. Promising French director Arnaud Desplechin blends French humor with lush visuals to create “a rich and strange film.” Catherine Deneuve appears in a supporting role, adding depth and sincerity to the story.

Arnaud Desplechin

Born in 1960 in Roubaix, Arnaud Desplechin graduated from the French national film school, IDHEC. He began his career as a cinematographer for directors such as Éric Rochant and Nico Papatakis. In 1991, he directed his first short film, The Life of the Dead, and gained attention with his feature debut The Sentinel (1992).
