Synopsis

A host of a TV show, Tony Wilson goes into the music recording business after being inspired by a concert attended by only 42 people. Tony succeeds in forming a popular band and opening the Hacienda Club, which leads the Rave and Acid scene. This film expresses deep affection for England’s music industry and Manchester, and the music that rocked the Hacienda Club clearly captures the attention of young audiences.

Michael Winterbottom

Born in 1961 in Blackburn, England. He made his directorial debut with two documentaries about Ingmar Bergman. He has directed numerous TV series and feature films, and gained international acclaim for works such as (1997) and (1998). He won the Golden Bear at the 2003 Berlin International Film Festival for (2002).
