Synopsis

Marie and Inga are friends attending a school for the blind, and they share a love for playing music together. One day, Marie helps Herbert, a boy being chased by the police, and this unexpected encounter becomes the start of a band called “Blindflyers.” This heartwarming story follows children growing up through music, offering more than just a surface-level look at life with disabilities. It brings a smile to the viewer, evoking nostalgia for the joys and struggles of youth.

Director

Bernd Sahling

Born in East Germany in 1961. From 1983 to 1986, he worked as an assistant director on numerous children’s films at the DEFA Studio in Potsdam. In 1986, he entered the HFF (Film and Television University) where he directed several short and medium-length films. In the mid-1990s, he studied screenwriting at Columbia College Chicago and Northwestern University. Blindflyers is his feature debut, and it has been invited to and screened at numerous film festivals.
