Synopsis

Hye-sung grew up in poverty but possessed a natural talent for baseball. Eom-ji has been his close friend since childhood. Hye-sung falls in love with Eom-ji, but when she transfers to another school, they lose touch. Years later, they meet again, but Eom-ji is now dating a gifted hitter named Ma Dong-tak. Hye-sung finds himself competing with Dong-tak for Eom-ji’s heart, but ends up severely injuring his shoulder and is forced to quit baseball.

Just then, Manager Sohn Byung-ho gathers a group of dismissed players and forms a new baseball team. Under Manager Sohn’s intense training regime, Hye-sung returns to the world of baseball, ready for a second chance.

  • Born in Seoul in 1945, Lee Jang-ho made his directorial debut in 1974 with Heavenly Homecoming to Stars, which drew an astonishing 450,000 viewers and revitalized the Korean film industry. He solidified his reputation as a realist filmmaker with socially conscious films such as Good Windy Day, Come Down to a Lower Place, and Declaration of Idiot. From the mid-1980s, Lee shifted to more commercial works like Lady Uhwudong and Lee Jang-ho's Baseball Team, both of which were major box-office successes.
