Synopsis
In the early 1960s, Pansori singer Yu-bong and his daughter Song-hwa live with a wanderer, Dong-ho. Yu-bong teaches Song-hwa Pansori music and the drum for Dong-ho. Dong-ho leaves home after having a dispute with Yu-bong. Heartbroken, Song-hwa refuses to perform Pansori. Yu-bong makes her go blind in an attempt to complete her Pansori music.

- Born in 1936. He made his directorial debut in 1962 with "Goodbye, Dumangang". Since then, he has completed 100 films. His representative works include "Mandala" (1981), "The Wife" (1986), "Seopyeonje" (1993), as well as "Chunhyang" (2000), which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival competition, and "Chihwaseon" (2002), which won the Best Director award at Cannes. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2005 and is recognized as an international master. He is currently shooting his 101st film, "Raising the Moonlight".
