Synopsis

A one-hour documentary about the making of Elton John’s album *Goodbye Yellow Brick Road*. Made in 1973 during a prolific period of songwriting for Elton and Bernie Taupin, the sessions for this album were so fruitful that Elton was able to release his first double album. Full of classic tracks, it gave Elton his first number-one album on both the American and British charts and provided Elton with four top-ten singles. This documentary provides a unique insight into the process behind the recording of this truly classic album from one of the biggest stars on the planet.

Bob Smeaton is a Grammy Award-winning and three-time Emmy-nominated director of music and arts documentaries. In addition to his work on films and TV programs, he is also the lead vocalist and songwriter for the rock band White Heat. He has worked with numerous top artists including The Beatles, Elton John, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Queen, Nirvana, Mark Knopfler, and the Spice Girls.
