Synopsis

At night, Petre guards a boring bus shed in the suburbs of Bucharest. During the day, he looks after his son Robert. Petre is convinced that his son is truly gifted and that he has ‘music in his blood.’ He wants to give him a chance by all means. He tries to enter Robert into the shiny world of Bursuc, the greatest child-star producer of all time, the king of ‘manele’ (gypsy pop).

  • Born in 1976 in Bucharest, Romania, Alexandru Mavrodineanu grew up in Austria, France, and Italy. After emigrating to Germany at the age of 18, he began working in TV and film. After returning to Romania in 2006, he began making his own films. His second short film, Boxing Lessons (2007), was screened at several film festivals.
