Synopsis

Approximately Nels Cline is Steven Okazaki’s first music documentary, featuring Nels Cline, a brilliant and adventurous musician as the lead guitarist of Wilco. Produced in collaboration with Fantasy Studios, the film features Scott Amendola and Devin Hoff, with special guests Carla Kihlstedt, Ron Miles, Yuka Honda, Ben Goldberg, and Matthias Bossi. “It’s not your typical music documentary,” says the director. “It’s about musicianship and the collaborative hard work of playing great music.”

  • In 1991, he won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) and the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival for his film *Waiting for the Moment*. His films portray ordinary people experiencing special moments in their lives when they face dramatic and historic events or become caught up in social issues.
