Synopsis

Harold Lloyd's most popular comedy is arguably his funniest film. It is also his most commercially successful silent comedy feature. Harold plays college freshman Harold Lamb who longs to be the big man on campus. His metamorphosis from college zero to college hero in the climactic football game is one of the high points of silent film comedy.

Sam Taylor, born in 1895, was active as a director, writer, and producer during the silent film era. He is famous for his works featuring Harold Lloyd and Mary Pickford.

  • Born in Colorado, Fred Newmeyer is widely known for directing several films in the Our Gang series and Harold Lloyd's film The Freshman. He also directed and acted in other short comedies. Between 1914 and 1923, he appeared in 71 films as an actor, and co-directed Harold Lloyd's famous silent film Safety Last (1923) with Sam Taylor. He passed away in 1967 at the age of 78 in Woodland Hills, California.
