Synopsis

The turbulent life story of the most famous folk singer that the Netherlands has ever known: Andre Hazes. An artist who loved the blues and who lived like the blues. As an 8-year-old rascal with an abusive and alcoholic father, he has been discovered singing in the streets of Amsterdam in the 60’s. We relive the highlights of his career in the 80’s and go down with him in the aftermath of his career, when his famous voice and sound is seriously affected by his deteriorating hearing and his alcohol addiction.

  • Diederik Ebbinge
  • Born in 1963 in Groningen, Netherlands, Diederik Ebbinge started his career in 1988 as a junior copywriter at KKBR and founded the advertising agency Neboko in 1999. In 2012, he made his first feature film Marathon, which won three Golden Calf Awards, the Dutch equivalent of an Oscar, in October 2013. In 2014, he directed the biographical film about Dutch singer Andre Hazes, Blood, Sweat, and Tears.
