Synopsis

​In 1347, Rienzi proclaims the establishment of the Roman Republic. Five centuries later, Wagner drew his inspiration from this true event to make a dark masterpiece about political corruption, ideals and treason. The film was shot during the rehearsals of Wagner’s opera French premiere. It tells the story of Rienzi, the revolution’s hero, seen by the direct witnesses of his political ambition.

  • Pierre-André Blanck, born in 1970, studied film at ESAV University in Toulouse, France. He currently works as a film and documentary producer and has directed short films such as "The Girl from Sarajevo" (2007), "Mr. Wyang’s Journey" (2012), and "Yamato" (2014).
