Synopsis
In 1980, Northwestern University invited Julius Eastman, the queer African-American avant-garde composer and performer, whose ecstatic militant minimalism initiated a black radical aesthetic. But the titles of his compositions were redacted from the printed program. The film is based on Eastman’s public statement to respond to it, and each performer’s modified verbatim transcriptions.
