Synopsis

Is this Gugak (Korean traditional music) or Flamenco? A flamenco guitarist, a flamenco dancer, a Korean traditional singer and a gypsy violinist have moved to Jeju Island for different reasons. They meet in a new neighborhood and start new music Gugak-flamenco crossover under the band name, “Soriquete.” Their new sound and life challenges deliver free and independent paradigm of life to us trapped in a monolithic system.   • Lee Sang-mok
  • Born in Seoul in 1978, Lee Sang-mok graduated from the Department of Cultural Anthropology at Hanyang University in 2006. From 2008 to 2010, he worked as a film and publishing translator. In 2010, he moved to Jeju Island. After working as a freelance radio producer, he has been active as the head of Maekera Studio, which he founded in 2016.
