Synopsis

Pansori singer Yu-bong, his daughter Song-hwa, and his drum student Dong-ho. Director Im Kwon-taek’s representative film portrays the mournful story of these three characters. It is the first film to deal with Korean traditional music Pansori and is evaluated to have successfully implemented the sentiment of “Han” on screen. The film gathered one million audiences in Danseongsa, Seoul, only upon its release. In particular, music director Kim Su-cheol not only included existing Pansori pieces like “Chunhyangga” and “Shimcheongga,” but also incorporated original scores such as “Cheonnyeonhak” and “Sori-gil,” revealing his love for Korean traditional music.
