Synopsis

Yuan Xiuling, a star past her prime, plans a return to the spotlight a year after her philandering husband passes away. An opportunity arises when she is cast as the lead in a theatre production titled [Two Sisters]. However, her co-lead is her biggest rival, He Yuwen, a rising actress making her theatrical debut. In the week before opening night, tensions rise and tempers flare. The actresses struggle to cope with artistic expectations, jostle for media attention, and let past resentments and grievances rise to the surface. A new film after a long hiatus from Hong Kong maestro Stanley Kwan, stars two of Hong Kong′s most quintessential actresses, Sammi Cheng and Gigi Leung, alongside China′s Bai Baihe.

  • ​관금붕 감독은 세 번째 영화 <인지구>(1987)로 국제적으로 상당한 팬층을 얻었다. 그 후, <롼링위>(1991)의 주연을 맡은 장만옥이 베를린영화제에서 여우주연상을 받았으며, <쾌락과 타락>(1997)이 베를린영화제에서 다시 수상, 영화 예술에 새로운 시각을 연 영화에 주어지는 알프레드바우어상과 최고의 퀴어영화에 주어지는 테디상을 받았다. 2001년에는 <란위>로 금마장영화제 감독상을 받았다. 연출가뿐만 아니라 제작자로도 활동하며 홍콩 영화계에서 손꼽히는 인물이다.
