Synopsis

The iconic jazz record label Blue Note Records has been home to such groundbreaking artists as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bud Powell and Art Blakey, as well as present-day musicians like Robert Glasper and Norah Jones. Through rare archival footage, current recording sessions and conversations with jazz icons Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and today’s groundbreaking Blue Note musicians, this film reveals a powerful mission and illuminates the vital connections between jazz and hip hop.

  • ​스위스 출신의 소피 후버는 연기를 공부한 뒤에 베를린 필름 콜렉티브에서 몇 편의 극영화를 공동 연출하면서 영화 제작을 경험하게 된다. 2012년 그녀가 만든 장편 다큐멘터리 데뷔작 <해리 딘 스탠턴의 초상>은 베니스 영화제에서 처음 상영되었고, <블루 노트 레코드>는 그녀의 두 번째 다큐멘터리 작품이다.
