Synopsis

Marking its 40th anniversary, “Meari” is a folk singing club at Seoul National University, which resisted against dictatorship in the 80s and has been producing and singing band music since the 90s. Its 40 years of history, which encompasses graduates who have dedicated their lives to folk music and students who sing about their youth in the band, represent the history of Korea's modern age and the progressive social movement, “music movement.”

    • Since 2004, Jeong Il-geon has been working on documentary films with Pureun Video. He directed Daechuri War (2007), Living in Daechuri (2009), and Cloud Bridge (2014), and co-directed the film Bad Country (2015), which dealt with the Sewol ferry disaster and the families’ struggles. He also participated in the "416 Project - Oblivion and Memory" through Trace (2016), which captured the voices of the bereaved families and the spaces in Ansan after the Sewol tragedy.
