Program Note
This is an example of how a film score had a profound effect on the music scene. In some ways the score has become more famous than the film itself. Miles Davis’ use of modality, perfect for the film, led him in a new musical direction and can be heard in his next stylistic change on the album [KIND OF BLUE], one of the most successful jazz albums of all time. I often speculate about what would his journey have been like if he hadn’t done the film score. An example of cinema affecting genres outside of itself.(Mike Figgis)
