Program Note

This film faithfully captures various aspects of the pop music scene in the mid-1960s, including Walkerhill, the Seoul Civil Center, TV stations, and clubs for young people starring ‘The Beatles of Korea’. It tells the story of a young singer reuniting with his long-lost father and his first love with whom he’d broken up due to misunderstanding. The narrative structure may be sloppy, but the film certainly offers a musical feast. It reflects director Han Hyeongmo's unique directing style, which often gave rise to box office hits.
