An object so light and thin but considered too heavy for a woman to hold. The baton. Those who endured the prejudices, who faced the whole orchestra, their fight for prejudices not for skills. Marin Alsop, the first woman to become a conductor and director of a large American orchestra, is one of them. The Conductor shows her footsteps with crossing cuts from past and present, goes back in the history of her fight. Alsop and her supporters slowly break the glass ceiling.
