Program Note

The film impressed me. The use of the wide-angle frame and the lack of known actors. But the score was really good. The use of electronic, synthesized sound gave the film a special flavour. Of course the horror genre has pioneered the use of this kind of sound/music for many years but this felt fresh to me. The film has subtlety. It gave me pause for thought in my own work and of late I have been using these kinds of sound structures more and more and finding it rewarding in the storytelling process. There is a limit to what is possible in conventional music.
