Synopsis

​Five-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend Roy Orbison is an unprecedented genre-defying figure who has been labeled sexy, cool, one-of-a-kind, and many other descriptors. His biography is filled with the most prominent musicians of his time. From his success as a rockabilly star, to his British tour with the Beatles, to his collaborations with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and the Traveling Wilburys, Orbison's fascinating legacy is chronicled.

Primarily active in the 1960s, Roy Orbison's songs have been featured in many American films since the 1980s. Pretty Woman, the film that catapulted Julia Roberts to stardom, takes its title from a Roy Orbison song, while postmodernist auteur David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986) featured "In Dreams" and Mulholland Drive used the Spanish version of "Crying". This documentary features interviews with Roy Orbison's family and friends, as well as artists he worked with during his time in the UK, and shows how he influenced later generations of artists.
