Synopsis

This bittersweet black-and-white film tells the story of a young musician trying to figure out his life and a young waitress with a beautiful voice who struggles to muster up the courage to perform. After a chance encounter, they fall in love and are forced to choose between love and ambition. Will they choose love or will they choose success?

Program Note

"A song about love" is reminiscent of "Once" and "Begin Again". Robert, a musician whose father is a famous actor and theater owner, has yet to create a world of his own, is interested in Alicia, a waitress at a restaurant, when he hears her sing. Robert continues to work on his music while struggling to reconcile with his overbearing father, while Alicia, though talented in music, has no ambition to succeed and is simply trying to make ends meet as a waitress. The film is shot in black-and-white, but some scenes are shot on the digital screen of a smartphone, and the multi-media expression is unusual. (Kwangwoo Noh)
