Synopsis
A documentary about The Band's Thanksgiving concert on November 26, 1976. After releasing their debut album, Music From Big Pink, in 1968, it's safe to say that The Band dominated the music scene of their time. The Last Waltz features passionate performances by guest musicians such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Ringo Starr, and a restored version of the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Program Note
"'The Last Waltz' is arguably the greatest popular music documentary ever made. The scale of the production itself, bringing together some of the greatest rock and blues performers of all time, is epic, as is the commentary on one of the greatest bands of all time, 'The Band,' in between their live performances. The combination of fluid camerawork and impeccable recording makes this a unique film that stands as both a social document and a live concert." (Mike Figgis)
