Synopsis

Detective Hae-joon is assigned to the inquest of a man who fell from a mountain top and is confronted by the deceased's wife, Seo-rae. Seo-rae doesn't seem particularly agitated by her husband's death. The police begin to investigate her as a suspect because she is different from other bereaved families, but as Hae-joon gets to know her, he finds his interest in her growing.

Program Note

"This is a movie that we've been working on for a very long time, as the movie's release date was not decided due to the coronavirus. When director Park Chan-wook and I saw the edit, we decided that a melodramatic but emotionless music would be appropriate for the movie. We wanted the music to amplify the emotions of the main characters and focus on the atmosphere between the two characters rather than reinforcing the story. I refrained from using a large orchestra and focused on woodwind and string solos and small percussion to express the strangeness of the situation rather than the emotions of the characters. It's a very unique piece in my filmography." (Youngwook Cho)
