Program Note
"I saw this movie when I was a teenager and it's the one that introduced me to what film music is all about. It could be considered the beginning of my film scoring career. I still find the repetitive, simple instrumentation in Goblin to be more grandiose and deep than any large orchestra. It's also the piece that I think of whenever I'm doing a horror scene ('Closet', 'Hide and Seek', 'Oldboy', 'The Kindness of Geumja', etc.). I've heard some people say that I make good use of baroque music in Korean film scores, but I personally think it's the one that influenced me the most, because the music for 'Suspiria 1977', which Goblin also worked on, is psychedelic, but I strangely think of baroque music whenever I watch that film."
