Synopsis

A grandfather enters the mountains in search of his granddaughter who was taken by a tiger, and encounters strange happenings.

Program Note

When a tiger takes his granddaughter, the grandfather ventures into the mountains alone to find her. While , meaning the soul of someone killed by a tiger, is not a music film, traditional instruments like the janggu and jing become powerful tools for expressing the grandfather's emotional state and situation as he chases the tiger's traces. Inspired by Korean folk beliefs, this dialogue-free animation relies entirely on sound and music. Traditional Korean instruments not only drive the story but also represent cultural identity. The final scene, where more instruments join in, becomes a spirited performance reminiscent of a shamanistic ritual. (Heo Nam-woong)
